Leuven
Leuven (Louvain) is situated in the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium (the region of Flanders), at about 30 kilometres of the nation’s capital, Brussels.
Most international travelers will arrive in Brussels: either at the Brussels National Airport or at railway station Brussels Midi (station of arrival for international trains, Eurostar or Thalys). In both cases, the cheapest and easiest way to travel from Brussels to Leuven is by train. Although taxies are readily available and can be convenient, they are quite expensive. Train connections are reliable and frequent. The journey takes no more than 20 minutes. Tickets can be bought at the station. For more information, please visit the Belgian railway website where you can consult timetables. Beware that Brussels South Airport is not located in Brussels, but in Charleroi. From there it is still a two-hour journey to Leuven.
The Conference Venue
The Arts Faculty lies within walking distance of Leuven railway station (a 10-minute walk). Follow the Maria-Theresiastraat until it intersects with the Blijde-Inkomststraat, and turn right. You will now find the Faculty on your right side. The main building is the Erasmushuis (or LETT, Blijde-Inkomststraat 21), where registration, coffee breaks and the lectures will take place. All hotels, shops and restaurants in the center of Leuven are located within walking distance.
